Over at the Astronomy Picture of the Day, they’ve got an article about a phenomena you can (if you’re lucky) see from the deck of the Sentio.

“Many think it is just a myth. Others think it is true but its cause isn’t known. Adventurers pride themselves on having seen it. It’s a green flash from the Sun. The truth is the green flash does exist and its cause is well understood. Just as the setting Sun disappears completely from view, a last glimmer appears startlingly green. The effect is typically visible only from locations with a low, distant horizon, and lasts just a few seconds. A green flash is also visible for a rising Sun, but takes better timing to spot. A dramatic green flash was caught in the above photograph in 1992 from Finland. The Sun itself does not turn partly green, the effect is caused by layers of the Earth’s atmosphere acting like a prism.”

Greetings to all of our friends,….

After a complete refit this summer, Sentio sailed back to her moorings at Curtain Bluff Resort the other day. We are looking forward to serving our old and new guests. This season we have a new Mate/Stewardess. Her name is Jess and is origionally from England. Jess is a wonderful new addition to the Sentio crew. For those guests interested in our former Mate/Stewardess Kate; she is well and visiting family in South Africa. Kate and her family are all doing well.

Captain Steven is once again skippering Sentio for the 2009-10 season. This will be his third season. Greetings to all his former guests.

The Crew of Sentio wish all of our friends the best and look forward to sailing together again…

From Max and Nicky Van Someren from London:

“Honeymooners from England. We has a SERIOUSLY great time on this boat. We put the world right! We were told to sit wherever we want…..where we wanted was right with the skipper and crew. Fantastic people! Thank you.”

And….from Sharon and Richard Nance:

“25th Anniversary. We had a great time with great conversation. The sail was beautiful, the sunset was vivid, and we will be back next year. Thanks.”
